Morning

Morning

Morning, he wakes up before his alarm.
Exactly 10 minutes before again today.

He wants to go to work.
He doesn’t want to go.
He’s happy.
He’s depressed.
His own emotions,
swing back and forth.

Undecided,
he gets up anyway,
drinking orange juice.
Only the chill,
is left in his mouth.
No emotion in his movement,
only his limbs jerk,
as if he were a robot.

The moment he thinks that,
the emotions well up,
he begins to enjoy himself.
That moment, his alarm goes off.
He’s already awake,
yet the chime of the alarm clock,
rings to wake him again.
He doesn’t use it.

Feeling bad for the alarm clock,
then,
he is amused.

“Sorry.”
He says,
stopping the alarm.
His heart feels kinder.

A moment of silence.

The clock,
with regularity,
tick tocks,
ticking the time away.
